The “Youth Opera” project is intended for new artists who have completed their training and are now making their first career steps. The project’s main objective is to offer the possibility to new artists to develop and present their skills in a protected work environment that is also supervised by renowned professionals in their respective fields.

The GNO’s Alternative Stage has decided to mount W. A. Mozart’s opera Idomeneus, King of Crete (Idomeneo, re di Creta) transcribed for six strings and a harpsicord for two reasons: first, it essentially completes the era of opera seria while signaling the era to come, and second, its music material presents challenges without imposing unsur- mountable technical obstacles to new artists.
