Few are acquainted with the fact that Johan Strauss II, the well-known "king of waltz", also composed ballet music towards the end of his life. As he died in 1899, he did not attend Cinderella’s premiere in 1901. In 1999, Renato Zanella, the GNO Ballet Director, choreographed this work for the famous Vienna State Opera Ballet, whereas in 2013 it was staged at Teatro Colón, Argentina. Next spring, this choreography will be staged at Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall (Alexandra Trianti Hall).
