Dionyssios Lavrangas, Fakanapas (1935)

The Greek lyric art has paid only a little duty towards Dionyssios Lavrangas (1860 - 1941), the famous Greek composer who founded 3rd Greek Melodrama, which was the forerunner of the GNO. His works, much like most of his peers, are rarely staged. Fakanapas has been produced only once at the GNO, in December 1950, and only after the death of the composer. The concert version of this comic operetta aspires to acquaint the audience with this forgotten work.
