Following an intensive year-long creative process, the Greek National Opera’s Composition Workshop Cycle concludes with three distinct concert programmes that will be held at the GNO Alternative Stage, featuring a total of 24 new works.  These new works, commissioned from active members of the Cycle, converse with pieces composed by the Cycle’s mentors and rapporteurs – all acclaimed creators who supported and guided the compositional process with their knowledge and personal style.
The Composition Workshop Cycle was designed as a new educational and creative initiative by the GNO, aiming to support the next generation of composers and enhance contemporary artistic creation.  For an entire year, from September 2024 to September 2025, participants attended two-day meetings each month, which included presentations by composers and musicians, as well as composition classes. The programme was led by three mentors, Ioannis Angelakis, Nicolas Tzortzis, and Dimitra Trypani, supported by the contributions of Kharálampos Goyós, Giorgos Koumendakis, Periklis Liakakis, Minas Borboudakis, and Joseph Papadatos.
The 24 works featured in the three concerts will be performed by the Ergon Ensemble under the baton of Nicolas Vassiliou. The Ergon Ensemble played a crucial role throughout the Cycle, enabling the testing and development of the works in real time through constant collaboration with the composers.

The detailed concert programme will be announced in September.
