Ioan Hotea

Romanian tenor, he studied in his hometown, Baia Mare, and at the Bucharest Music Academy. Currently he continues with tenor Alberto Cupido in Italy. He has been a member of the Romanian National Opera (Bucharest, 2011/13), where he sang, among others, Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi). Moreover he has sung The Lover (Menotti’s Amelia al ballo, Opéra de Monte-Carlo), Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Opéra national de Paris), Alfredo (La traviata, Romanian National Opera, Timișoara), Ernesto (Don Pasquale, Zurich Opera), Ferrando (Così fan tutte, Vienna State Opera), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte, Wiesbaden State Theatre, Germany). He performs in concerts and recitals. He has been awarded in the Competition of the Romanian National Opera (Bucharest), Hariclea Darclée International Voice Competition and Plácido Domingo’s Operalia. In 2017 he sang for the Greek National Opera the role of Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia, Olympia Theatre).
