Isabelle Lhoas

She studied history of art at the University of Liège. She followed a special course of haute couture and modelling at ESMOD, Paris. Since 1989 she has been collaborating with Ultima Vez and Wim Vandekeybus. She received the first prize of the Arte Povera festival (Turin, 1992), for Immer das Selbe gelogen (dir./choreogr. by Wim Vandekeybus) and her costumes were used in Dries Van Noten’s catwalk. From 1996 she has been collaborating with the choreographers Iztok Kovač, Carmello Fernández, Roberto Olivan, François Brice, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Douglas Becker, Ted Stoffer, Michèlle Anne De Mey, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, RootlessRoot. She has worked for the Grand Théâtre de Genève Ballet, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Göteborg Opera, as well as for films. She has worked with Guy Cassiers, Zuidam’s Rage d’amours (Nederlands Opera Festival) and Der fliegende Holländer (La Monnaie, Brussels), and presented four collections in Paris fashion week. From 2018, she has been teaching costume technology at the École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre in Brussels.
