The Greek National Opera presents the concert Hymn to Liberty at the courtyard of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens on Wednesday 23 June at 20.30, as part of the tribute to the 2021 bicentennial of the Greek Revolution and in collaboration with the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.

The Greek National Opera Orchestra under the baton of Elias Voudouris, will perform excerpt from Nikolaos Mantzaros’ work Hymn to Liberty, as well as part of Nikos Skalkottas’ 36 Greek Dances.

The Byzantine Choir of the Ecclesiastical Foundation for Byzantine and Traditional Music of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, under the direction of protopsaltes and master of the psaltic art Mr Constantinos Angelidis, will perform Byzantine ecclesiastical hymns dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy New Martyrs Patriarch Gregory V, Cosmas of Aetolia, Chrysostomos of Smyrna, Filothei the Athenian, and to Constantine Palaeologos.
