The Greek National Opera, continuing a decade-long summer tradition and adapting to this year’s extraordinary circumstances, presents two Opera Galas at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

The second one, scheduled for Tuesday 28.7.2020, will give us the chance to admire world-class opera stars Cellia Costea, Giorgio Berrugi, Tassis Christoyannis performing famous arias and duets from operas of Verdi (Luisa Miller, Il trovatore, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino, La traviata ), Ponchielli (La Gioconda) Giordano (Andrea Chénier), Leoncavallo (Pagliacci) and Puccini (Tosca). The GNO Orchestra will be conducted by the distinguished Italian conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi.

GNO’s renowned leading singer Cellia Costea has been awarded at numerous international singing contests and has carved out a brilliant career at the world’s most prestigious theatres and greatest halls. Her performances of emblematic roles of Verdi and Puccini stand out for their sensitivity.

Italian tenor Giorgio Berrugi has been worldwide distinguished for his bright, warm Italian sound and the musical and expressive shades of his interpretations. His international career includes some of the most important opera theatres, concert halls and festivals.

GNO’s renowned Greek baritone Tassis Christoyannis, along with his appearances in Greece, has conquered the most prestigious European opera houses and opera festivals. He has collaborated with celebrated conductors and acclaimed directors and has shared the stage with world-class leading singers
