The contemporary opera programme includes two works that emerged from a competition conducted by the GNO: Agamemnon by Apostolos Darlas and The Darkness of Mistico by Gregory Emfietzis. With these two works,
the GNO will also present for first time in Greece Detlev Glanert’s chamber opera Der Engel auf dem Shiff (The Angel of the Ship), which is the last piece in his Wasserspiele (Water pieces) trilogy, first presented in 1995.
